Reports on ENGLISH DAY from pupils of the 4th form

On February 25th, the pupils attending the 4th form, took part in our fourth “English Day”.

The English day

On the 25th of February 2014 we had an English day.
An English day is a day where many subjects are taught in English.
We had History, Biology, Geography and PE.
After these subjects we saw an English theatre which was great.
All lessons were great, however the PE and Geography lessons were fantastic.
The English day was very cool and we had a lot of fun. But I think the English theatre wasn’t so cool because we read the book before.
I would also approve the English day for the next 4th
forms too.

Anna Pfaffinger, 4a

English Day

Our English Day was on Tuesday the 25th of February and it aimed at making us talk English throughout all lessons during the morning. On an English Day you aren’t allowed to speak German. The teachers have to speak English and the kids also have to speak English.
We had four subjects on Tuesday: PE, History, Geography & Economics and Biology. After the lessons there was a performance of the English theatre.
I really liked the day because it’s cool to speak another language all the time, that means even during the breaks.
The positive aspects are that it is good for us to speak another language non-stop because I think this helps us to improve our language skills.
It wasn’t really difficult to speak English in the lessons for me. I thought it was cool and everybody seemed to have fun.
I always spoke English in the lessons but during the breaks my friends and I sometimes switched over to German when we didn’t know a word or a sentence.
At the end of our English Day we visited a performance of the Vienna English Theater called ``Virtual Heroes´´ in our gym. It was a really great finish and highlight of this day.
I can only approve of organising it for the next 4th form and I’m quite sure that they will also enjoy it, providing that it is as good as this year.

Steiner Christian, 4c

English Day

The English day was on Tuesday the 25 th February.
An English day is a great day to improve your English.
In the fourth class you have a day where you speak only English.
All your lessons are in English. I had four lessons on the English day.

Our first  lesson was Geography with Mrs Haberl. It was very interesting. We learned about countries in English.
The second lesson was Biology with Mrs Fischer and Mrs Schmerold. We learned about the sense organs and made a couple of biological experiments.
The next lesson was history  with Mrs Hochegger and Miss Enhuber. It was cool, because we watched a film.
Our last subject was PE with Mrs Garnweidner. We had great fun. In PE we played baseball but unfortunately only for a half an hour, because the people from the English theater arrived and needed the gym.
So our class helped the actors to set the scene. But it was great, because the people were so nice and it was a good 0pportunity to practice and improve our English skills. Then the English theater began. It was the best English theater performance I have ever seen. We understood all the words and it was so interesting. I liked the whole day! The subjects were brilliant. There is nothing that I didn’t like about this day.

The English day is a very good possibility to learn English and to use this language at school. Maybe sometimes it was a little bit difficult to understand the entire lesson but nevertheless I tried to speak English. During the lunch break I must admit not having spoken English. I really liked the English day and I would approve of one for the next 4th forms because it was a great experience.
I think all pupils should have this opportunity!

Christiana Peterlechner, 4b

English Day

On the 25th of February, 2014 the fourth forms had an English Day.
The English Day is very easy to explain. On this day you must not only speak English during all lessons but also in the breaks.
On the 25th our normal timetable was dissolved. We had special topics.
In the first lesson weh ad Geography, in the second Biology, in the third History and in the fourth lesson Physical Education.
I liked this day because you were able to speak English in normal everyday situations and you learned other words than during the English lessons.
What I didn’t lide about this day was that we only had PE for 15 minutes and this was a very short time nevertheless it was the best lesson because of playing baseball.
One positive aspect of that day ist that you can learn English communication. You also can speak with people who are from England.
It was sometimes difficult to only speak English because you couldn’t always find the right word for what you wanted to say.
I must confess, I didn’t speak English all the time. It is habit to speak German.
After the fourth lesson we saw a performance of English Theatre this is also the reason why we could speak with English people.
The actors and actresses from this theatre live in Vienna but they come from Great Britain so they couldn’t speak German.
I can really recommend this English Day because you have a lot of fun during the lessons and above all you improve your English language skills.

Daniela Eder, 4b

ENGLISH DAY

Last Tuesday we had our English day. An English day is a day were you have got all your school subjects in English.
We had geography, biology, PE, history and at last we watched a great theatrical performance.
I liked the very cool subjects and that we weren’t allowed
to speak German.
The positive aspects were that we perhaps could learn something to the not so good English speakers and that it was a challenge not to speak German. I think it wasn’t so difficault to speak only English during the lessons. I had no problem to stick to English.
I can only recommend it, because it is so important to speak English very well .
I think all 4th forms should have two English days a year.
Throught it was really interesting and cool !  :)

Brunnauer Dave, 4c

ENGLISH DAY

On the 25th of February we had the so called “English Day”. On this day our regular timetable was changed and all the subjects we had were taught in English.
In the first lesson we had Biology. We learned about the five senses and it was not only very interesting but also a little bit difficult because for example I’ve never heard about the things in our ears in English.
The second lesson we were taught about the European Union in Geography. We learned all the names of the countries in English and we drew some of their flags.
The best of our lessons we had this day was PE. We played a typical English sport called “softball”. It was funny as well as exciting.
In the fourth lesson we had History. We watched a film about Indians and then we answered questions about it.
Not only the last but also the best thing of the English Day was the English theatre. The actors and actresses did a very good job! It was very fantastic and funny to watch.
Of course we had to speak English the whole day. I think it wasn’t so difficult because we’ve learned a lot in our normal English lessons.
I really liked this day because we got to know how school is in England or America. What I didn’t like was that some people in my class always spoke German and not English.
I think it would be better to make two or three English Days because the day went on very quickly.
I would approve one for the next 4th forms as well because it was so exciting to have the subjects in English and I also would like to have one again.

Elisabeth Furtner, 4a

English day

An English Day is a day where you speak English the whole day.
It took place on Tuesday, the 25th of February.
We had Biology, History, PE and Geography in English.
In the first lesson it was a bit difficult to speak English constantly but then it wasn’t really difficult for me any more. Because when you only speak the language, it isn’t so difficult at all.
But it was a pain when you wanted to tell a story but you couldn’t remember an important word in English.
At the end of the day we saw a theatre in English. The English theatre came from Vienna to Ostermiething and performed a play called “Virtual Heroes”. It was really fantastic!
I think The English day couldn’t be improved because it was very good organised and I would approve one for the next 4th forms as well. It was a great day!!!

English day

The English Day is a day on which you always talk English throughout  all of the lessons.
The English Day was on the 25th February 2014.We had four Subjects: Biologhy,Geography,History and PE.

The English Day was a very good idea because you can learn very many new English words.
I think that the next fourth classes should also have one.I can recommend it.
In my opinion it was not difficult to speak English throughout all lessons because you get used to speaking English after a while. During the lessons I always spoke English but in the break I spoke German to my friends.when a teacher asked me if I liked the English Day so far and I automatically answered in English.

At the end of the English Day there was a nice theatre performance, called"VIRTUAL HEREOS. I would approve of it for the next 4th forms, because it proved to be a worthy experience.

Jaqueline Schöberl, 4c

English day

On February, 25th 2014 we had our English day in our school. Each 4th form had a few subjects in English the whole day that’s why it is called “English day”.
In the first lesson we had Geography and learned about the European Union.
In the second lesson my class had biology where we learned about the five senses.
A lesson later we were taught about the discovery of America and we watched a film about it.
At last we had the subject PE where we played a famous and funny game called baseball.
After these four subjects the third and fourth form watched a theatre performance which was also in English. It was very interesting and the best lesson of the day.
I liked the whole day and there was nothing that I didn’t like.
At the theatre there were very nice actors and we had a lot of fun with them.
I mostly stuck to English but I must admit that I used a few words in German if I didn’t know the translation but it wasn’t so difficult to speak English throughout the lessons.
The day was very funny and interesting that’s why I would approve of one for the next 4th form as well and I wish them a lot of fun.

Jasmin Sommerauer, 4b

English Day

An English Day is when you have several subjects in English and you must speak English all the time. The English Day was on the Feb. 25th, 2014.
On this day I had four subjects: PE, History, Biology and Geography.
I think it wasn't difficult to speak English because I have been learning Englis for three and a half yeras and that's why I could do it well.
It was the different subjects to be taught in English and that's why I liked it.
There was nothing I didn't like.
At the end of the English Day I saw a theatre and it was brilliant and really funny.
It couldn't be improved because I think it is good the way it is.
I would approve one for the next 4th forms because it was funny and it isn't a normal school day.

ENGLISH DAY

Last week on Tuesday everybody in 4th  form had an English Day.
This is a project at our school where we are only allowed to speak English the whole day.
On this day we had geography with Mrs Haberl, biology with Mrs Fischer, history with Mrs Hochegger and PE with Mrs Garnweidner and Mrs Reschenhofer.
I liked the day very much because I love English.
Every lesson was very funny especially PE.
One of the positive aspects about the English Day is that we really learned how to speak English well and that everybody seemed to have fun.
It wasn’t very difficult to speak English the whole day and I tried to stick to English but sometimes a German word slipped out.
At the end of the day we saw the English play “Virtual Heroes”, it was really cool because the actors were also very nice. Before the theatre performance began we chatted with them but of course also in English.
I also would approve of an English Day for the next 4th form because we had a lot of fun.

English Day

This year my class and I took part in the English Day.
The English Day is a school day for German kids of the 4th  form, where the German subjects are taught in English.
It was last Tuesday and it started in the first lesson.
Our subjects were Biology, Geography, History and Physical Education.
It wasn`t very difficult to speak English constantly for me, but it was a huge change.
I really liked the PE lesson, because we played softball and it was very funny, but also exhausting. Unfortunately my team didn`t win.
At the end of the English Day we watched the English Theatre, which was performed in our gym. It was very funny and there were amazing actors and actresses.
I think the English Day is good the way it is and it needn`t be improved.
I really approve one for the next 4th forms!!!

Lea Huber, 4a

English Day

An English Day is a day where you have to speak not only English but you also have 5 lessons in English. This year the English Day took place on the 25th of February.
We had different subjects. In the first lesson we had Biology. We learned about the 5 senses. We also had Geography, History and PE where we played a typical American ball game.
First it was a little bit difficult but when we had the last lesson it was very easy to speak English.
I liked every subject of the English Day. We saw an English Theatre at the end of our English Day the. Four British people performed a nice play on stage.
I think everything was perfect on the English Day so it needn’t be improved. I really approve one for the next 4th forms because it’s a really great experience.

The English day

I think that the English-Day was great! It was a day in our school where we had only lessons in English. I like English very much that’s why I loved to speak English the whole day! At the end of the day we saw an English theatre. My favourite actor was Kevin, I think he did a great job.
He did it much better than the other actors and he was very friendly after the show too! I like him, he’s cool.   But what I didn’t like so much about the theatre was that they sang so much and they sang so badly - I had a headache after the show!
Okay, back to the English-Day: I had a History lesson, a Geography lesson, a Physical Education lesson and a Biology lesson. In PE we played an American game called softball.
It was very easy for me to speak English the whole day because I often play games with people who can only speak English! All in all it was a nice day and I would recommend it to everyone else!

Max Mayr, 4a

English Day

Last week on the 25th of February I took part in an English Day at our school. It was a valuable experience to speak English all day long and we all really had lots of fun. Speaking constantly in English was not a problem so I enjoyed the day. Especially the school subjects were great. For example we had History, Biology, Geography and Physical Education.
The best subject was PE because we played softball with the original rules from the United States of America. The only point I can criticize is that we only had one hour PE so we couldn’t play as much as we wanted.
At the end of the English Day we saw an English theatre. The play was so funny that I was rolling on the floor, holding my sides and couldn’t stop laughing.
All in all this day was a great success and I hope the next 4th forms will have an English Day as well, but with two hours PE instead of one.

Monika Stögbuchner, 4d

English Day

On  Feb.25th,14  an English day took place in the HS Ostermiething. On this  day the 4th forms have to speak English not only during  the lessons but also during the  breaks. It was very difficult to read English the whole day but it was funny.  We were taught different lessons in for example Biology, Geography, History and PE. That was our timetable for our English day. I liked the PE lesson best because I love sports. I didn’t like the other lessons so much, because they were a little bit boring. But the best was the English theatre at the end of the English day. The English day was very cool but there are things that could be improved. For example in one lesson we got four sheets. We did the first together however the second sheet we had to do  by our own. There were the same questions or we were assigned the same tasks and that was very boring. But I’d approve one for the next 4th forms as well.

Andreotti-Wolfersberger Patrick, 4a

English Day

On Tuesday the 25th of February there was an English day for the 4th forms.
On this day we were only allowed to speak English throughout all the lessons.
Our lessons were geography, biology, history and physical education.
At the end of the day there was a really good English theater called “Virtual Hero”.
The best thing of this day was the theater because the acting was extremely good.
Two further positive aspects about this day were that it was a nice change from the normal school routine and I‘m sure it helped us improve our English skills especially the capacity of speaking more fluently.
It was very difficult to speak English all day because you can only manage to do this if you know many English words.
I did not speak English all the time, when I did not know a word I asked for this word in German.
I would approve of an English day for the next 4th forms because you learn so much on this day.
In my opinion English days should be organised more often because they give you the possibility to practise English intensely and this again will prove to be very important for our future life.

Sebastian Hollersbacher, 4b

English Day

On Tuesday last week I had an English Day at school. This is a day on which you have to speak English the whole day and all subjects are in English. I had five subjects, sports, biology, history, geography and religion
After the 4th lesson we saw a play called “Virtual Heroes“ by  Clive Duncan. It was fantastic because the actors were so real. At the end of this theatre you thought that you were in a computer game.
One difficult thing is that you have to speak English the whole day and when you don’t know the English words you have to find other words to say the same thing. But this is good because you learn English better by speaking, that’s why I would recommend it if I could.
I couldn’t  stick to English all the time but I was able to during the lessons. During the breaks I spoke German with my friends. I would approve of one for the next 4th forms because it is really helpful and good to speak Englisch all the time.

Tobias Peterlechner, 4c

English Day

An English Day is a day which all 4th forms have once a year. English is spoken during all lessons on this day. The English Day was on the 25th, February, 2014. Our class had: Geography, Biology, PE and history.

It was very difficult for me to just talk English but it was very interesting how the teachers taught their subjects in English. I really liked that I could see a cool English Theatre performance at the end of the day. It wasn’t easy for me to speak English all the Day but when the actors talked to us, I could understand them well and I could answer just as well. During the lessons I always spoke English with the Teacher but in the breaks I spoke German with my friends. At the end of the English Day we saw the English Theatre performance of “Virtual Heroes”.
It was a really funny story and the actors were great. I think that this theatre was the best English Theatre I have ever seen.

I liked the English Day very much and I would love to have one again. The next fourth forms should look forward to the English Day because it is really interesting.
